  • What is hypnotherapy?
    Hypnotherapy is a talk therapy that not only uses the elements of counselling and psychotherapy to help you cope with the stresses of life, but also uses the state of mind of hypnosis to make this far more effective.
     
     
  • What problems can hypnotherapy treat?
    Hypnotherapy is commonly associated with behavioural changes, such as stopping smoking or losing weight. But actually hypnotherapy can be used successfully for many more problems and issues. 
    Research has shown that hypnotherapy has great success rates with issues such as Anxiety, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and dealing with fears and phobias.
     
     
  • What is the difference between hypnosis and stage hypnosis?
    Stage hypnosis uses the confidence building techniques of hypnosis to encourage the creative side of a participant to play along with the show. Stage hypnosis is a little like amateur dramatics and cannot actually make anyone do anything at all.
     
     
  • What is the difference between a hypnotherapist and a hypnotist?
    In the UK at least the word hypnotist is used to describe someone who demonstrates how to induce hypnosis, whereas a hypnotherapist also has counselling or psychotherapy qualifications that enable them to work with people with behavioural or psychological problems.
     
     
  • Can anyone be hypnotised?
    With the exception of being under the influence of drink or drugs, anyone over the age of around 5 years old can learn about hypnosis. To be hypnotised all you need to do is perform a series of simple mental exercises so as to focus your attention.
    In doing this all the things that you think about can have the same effect on your mind as if you've done it many times before.
     
     
  • What does hypnosis feel like?
    Hypnosis can be quite a relaxing experience, clients often report feeling quite lazy and heavy, but always in control and fully aware of what is happening around them.
     
     
  • Will I be unconscious during the session?
    Certainly not!
    You are always awake and will remember everything about the session.
     
     
  • Will I be under the power of the hypnotist?
    No.
    All hypnosis is a type of self hypnosis and at all times you will only ever be under your own power!
     
     
  • Do you have to know all about me and my problem in order to treat me?
    Although clients often have past experiences that they might want to talk about, it can be equally as beneficial to look at how you want to be in the future instead of looking into the past. If there are things that you have already decided that you don't want to talk about that is up to you and we can work with that.
     
     
  • Is hypnotherapy dangerous?
    Not at all, hypnosis is the same state of mind that becoming engrossed in a good book induces. It is perfectly safe.
     
     
  • Will it be safe for me to drive after my session?
    Very much so, yes.
     
     
  • What's the success rate for hypnotherapy?
    There are many published research articles about hypnotherapy that include success rates, and a quick look through Google will find them.
    They do tend to vary from issue to issue, but for the most common issues success rates tend to be in the region of 70 - 80%
     
     
  • How long does it take to get results?
    Compared to some talk therapies, hypnotherapy is quite a brief therapy.
    The amount of sessions varies from client to client depending on the severity of the issue but most have somewhere between 4 and 6 sessions. 
    Some may have more and some may only have as few as just 2 sessions.
